ABOUT

The Collaborative Anticoagulation stewardship and Research Exchange, Newfoundland and Labrador (CARE NL) is a multidisciplinary applied health research team committed to mobilizing partners in optimizing health services for individuals who require anticoagulation therapy.
CARE NL was formed as a collaboration between Memorial University and NL Health Services (NLHS). Our team is committed to working collaboratively with key partners, including leaders in health services delivery, policymakers, patients and citizens, healthcare professionals, and other community leaders across the province.

Knowledge Translation and Research Exchange
The CARE NL flagship project will officially launch in November 2024 with the gathering of partners to discuss the local context of anticoagulation use in NL, and to develop collaborations that will catalyze new research partnerships. It is our hope that this meeting will facilitate knowledge exchange and regional alliances among individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

This project will focus on re-imagining health services organization and delivery of care for individuals who require anticoagulants in NL.
The objectives are to:
-
Identify needs, gaps and opportunities to improve care for outpatients receiving anticoagulation therapy.
-
Learn from patients, providers, and clinician scientists from other Canadian jurisdictions, including those who have transitioned into a single provincial health authority.
-
Identify best practices and care models for anticoagulation management, including the use of digital health solutions that are responsive to the needs of patients and the health system
-
Develop a research and evaluation framework and partnerships for anticoagulation management that align with the principles and priorities of the NL Health Accord.
